Honing

We have designed and manufactured a honing machine, based on Sunnen heads, drives and stones. The capacity of our hone is 36.5mm to **800mm diameter, and a continuous length of 3000mm and with the ability to end for end a barrel to achieve a total capacity of 6000mm length. The hone is fully PLC controlled and is capable of honing to within 0.02mm diameter.

Using the Sunnen calculations we can very efficiently hone to size, with high metal removal and very low stone usages, thus we are able to pass on these saving to our customers, therefore making for a very competitive honing costs.

We can easily fit any shaped components into our Hone, such as ship engine liners, helicopter landing rams, hydraulic cylinders barrels of any outer body shape, and we have over ten years of honing these types of equipment.

** If required we can increase the maximum diameter from 800mm to 1800mm, but this would be dependant upon future requirements and ongoing work. We can also modify our hone to hone 6 meters in a single pass, if the ongoing work can justify the initial cost.
